FAQs
The test takes 45 minutes, however please allow up to an hour in case any minor repairs are needed. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment (you can bring your car in any time from opening onwards).
• Cars (Class 4)
Unfortunately we cannot test three-wheeled vehicles or motorcycles.
The test is designed to ensure that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards.
You should be aware that the MOT certificate is not a guarantee of the general mechanical condition of your car - you should have your car serviced regularly to maintain its mechanical condition.
Should your vehicle need a little help to pass the test, you can rest assured that almost all repairs can be carried out on site on the same day. Any repairs and charges will be notified to you upfront, so no nasty surprises!
Many failures we see every day could be prevented by drivers carrying out some simple checks before bringing their vehicle in. Common avoidable faults include light bulbs, tyre condition and pressure, mirrors, wipers and washers.
If your vehicle is undergoing its first MOT then a V5C vehicle registration certificate (log book) is required, this document is also required if your vehicle has had a change of registration plate since its last MOT. In all other instances no documentation is required.
If your car fails, it must be repaired and retested. You cannot legally drive your car on the road until the repairs have been made and a certificate issued. Most repairs can be carried out onsite at the test centre on the same day, and we will always advise you upfront about any work that needs to be done.
If we are able to repair your car ourselves at the test centre by the following day, there is no retest fee. If your car is removed from the test centre and returned to us within 10 working days, the cost for the retest will be £10.00. In all other cases a full test is required and will be charged at the current rate.
If your vehicle fails and you wish to appeal against the decision you should ask the testing station for a VT17 form. If your appeal is successful the fee or part of it will be returned, but you should not have your vehicle repaired before the appeal is considered as any change may affect the outcome of the appeal.
Yes. All parts are of Original Specification quality - meaning they are just as durable as the parts fitted in your car when it was new. And we use high quality oils, which are recognised and trusted within the industry.
We stock both semi-synthetic and fully synthetic oils. Our trained experts will identify the best oil for your car to ensure optimum efficiency and engine health.
Please note: If your car requires fully synthetic oil, there will be a charge of £12 for the upgrade. This can be booked online or, if you're not sure what type of oil you need, you can ask one of our technicians and pay in your local centre if necessary.
We have total confidence in the quality of the parts we use and the work carried out by our experts. This means you can enjoy the security of a full guarantee on all parts and work. (Guarantee is valid for either 12,000 miles or 12 months, whichever is soonest.)
If you'd prefer a manufacturer's service to our interim car service, contact us for a free, no-obligation quote.
This 40-point service is recommended every 6 months for high-mileage drivers, or where more frequent checks are recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.
The difference between our interim and full service options is that the Interim Service focusses on points that tend to need more regular servicing. An interim car service includes a broad range of checks on essential components to prevent unforeseen faults and help maintain your car.
See our service checklist for the full list of checks.
